How to bring dead Kawasaki motorcycle in life?

by Goldie 22. June 2011 00:48

Today's blog post is going to be about figuring out the ignition problem with 2004 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636.  As usual we will go through several motorcycle parts and locate this issue in one of them.

First thing every motorcyclist would think of is charging the battery. After changing the battery if the motorcycle is still unresponsive the next thing to do is changing it with new one and check if and the cables are tightly connected to the power. If the motorcycle is still dead I would say good thought would be to check the battery.  If it’s okay then we should pass on the next motorcycle part.

Second thing on the motorcycle parts list for checking is starter relay. The motorcycle’s main fuse is on the starter relay. It’s located on the left side when sitting on the motorcycle just under the front left side of the seat. There should be a 30 amp fuse. Once the power gets throughout the main fuse on the relay - it goes to the other fuse box near the rear of the motorcycle under the seat. This fuse box has the ECU main fuse in it.

Third motorcycle part for checking (if all the fuses are okay) would be the relays on the left rear under the seat also.

Fourth motorcycle part for checking would be the ignition switch.

Also the ground circuit is important. Check the battery ground cable connections to the battery and to the frame.

If you or your friends have a Honda you can also read previous blog post about Honda motorcycle parts that affect the ignition system.
