Many motorcyclists are noticing that Yamaha V Star motorcycles sometimes appear to have a clicking sound directly correlated to engine RPM. This sound is noticed at Yamaha street bikes especially at Yamaha V Star 1100 model and Yamaha V Star 650 classic model. The sound is not very loud but it is noticeable at all speeds. It sounds like knocking. It also sounds more like the front cylinder has more ticking.
Depends of the manufacturing year the sound could be gone for good if you adjust Yamaha motorcycle part. For example, if you adjust valves on 2003 Yamaha V Star 1100 custom the situation with the sound would get a little better, but wouldn’t be gone completely.
The Yamaha V Star 650 classic model can make all sorts of noises and then sometimes none at all. If you ride 200 miles the sound isn’t noticeable anymore. At Yamaha V Star 1100 if you ride 200 miles or maybe a lot more the sound would be still here.
With solved sound problem or not, you should learn to ride with it and get used to it. Either way the motorcycle is riding great.
